The Lover of My Soul

Oh, how the Father loves us…

I love you, Father, for all that you are. You’re the scent of my favorite Flower—Winter’s first snow. You’re a bird’s song in spring and summer’s warm water. The world’s knight in shining armor. Everywhere. Every day. God. You’re the lover of my soul.

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me

Psalm 139:7-10 ESV

Jesus; Redeemer of my soul, I love how you saved me.

I love you, Jesus, for all that you are. You are Living Water poured out for me until I am filled. You’re the Word with God forever. My Redeemer and risen Savior. The lover of my soul.

Jesus = Life-giving water and the Word with God forever

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5 ESV

Holy Spirit; Guardian of my soul, I love how you guide me.

I love you, Holy Spirit, for all that you are. You raised me out of ashes and held me through the storms. You’re there when my heart is weak, and you guide me if I’m lost or alone. Counselor. Protector. Teacher. Friend. The lover of my soul.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 14:26 ESV

Almighty God forever; Lover of my soul, I love how you love me.

Thank you, God, for all that you are. You’re the air I breathe. My highest mountain and endless shore. Everything I need—and so much more. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. The Beginning and the End. You sing over me every morning and your Word comforts me every night. I love how you forgive me. How you teach me to forgive. And, how you live…in me. I love you, God. You’re the only one forever, who is and was and is to come. The lover of my soul.

We love because he first loved us ~ 1 John 4:19 ESV He is the heart of love.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8 ESV

When I contemplate the Biblical omni-qualities of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I’m reminded of his great love for me, you, and all creation.

  • He is omnipresent—God is everywhere at the same time.
  • God is omnipotent—He’s all-powerful.
  • He’s omniscient—He alone knows everything about everything.

There is none like you, Lord…Lover of my soul, I love how you love me.

Dear friends,

Have you ever wondered about the depth of God’s love for us or how it contrasts or compares with earthly relationships? We live not so perfect lives in a not so perfect world. Pain and sorrow compete with joy and singing every day. Right? I believe it’s a matter of faith, truth, and trust…but that’s a story for another day. Please join the conversation. I’d love to hear your thoughts here in the Inspire A Fire comment section below this post.
