Autumn’s Way

Autumn's beauty

Autumn, you blush my heart with a beauty that travels through my dreams year-round.”

Angie Weiland-Crosby

More beautiful

I’ve heard fantastic stories and seen her color change. With each passing year, she grows more beautiful. More truthful. Unafraid to say goodbye. Beautiful—though thoroughly battered by each season’s wind. Ahh, yes. That’s Autumn’s way.

October's wooded pathway

The season’s secrets

She whispers each season’s blessings to October’s winds, her leaves frolicking with straggler hummingbirds while half-clothed branches sway. Happy thoughts and fantasies born to remind us of the gift we’ve been given. That, too, is Autumn’s way.

Rustle, rustle, autumn’s here. So, wander in the magic, and keep hope near.

God’s unimaginable promise

No man has seen or heard…

1 Corinthians 2:9 ESV

Sowing seeds of faith and reaping blessings along the way

Good-byes are never easy. It seems every wind-blown leaf carries a memory of seasons past with them. Some are tossed into a crackling campfire. Others become winter havens for hopeful creatures. However different, all hold colorful blessings.

Dear friends,

Although Autumn’s ways may seem fleeting, we can reap much in seeking understanding. In Corinthians 2:9, Paul describes God’s goodness and abundant blessings as treasures we must sow before we can reap. In all seasons, God offers us new life. Seeds of faith sown in His Son, Jesus Christ. And like Autumn, He says, “I’ll be back again someday.” My harvest will come in due time.

I lean on that hope—and the Giver of all seasons, promises.

    1. No doubt, autumn is and always will be my favorite season. There are so many inspirational nuances I haven’t mentioned here and so much life in this season of letting go.

  2. “I lean on that hope—and the Giver of all seasons, promises.”
Such a beautiful article, and meditation, Joann.
    Thank you!

    1. The Giver, God our Father, is so good at showing us the depth of all His colors. He prods our hearts (even in our dreams) to move forward in His call. Yes, even in the stillness. When we’re weary. When we want to give up. When we believe no one wants to hear what our hearts long to say. 🙂

  3. Like you, Autumn’s my favorite! Such beauty in this season, for all sorts of reasons—both the literal beauty and figuratively as well. Oh, to live with eyes wide open!

  4. As I read this, thinking of the beauty and color that blesses us in the changing season, my mind began to picture all that beauty turning brown. That made me sad. But then God reminded me that those leaves have nutrients that help fertilize. Under what may appear dead, God gives life and it will bloom again in its season.
