This Is Love — When Jesus Whispers

This Is Love

The Holy Spirit proves the world to be in the wrong about sin, righteousness, and judgment, for Jesus is the source of all love and love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. This is love.

In the book of John, we are reminded that love is a beacon of righteousness and moral clarity. Love is a force that opposes the darkness of sin and wickedness. Love finds joy in the purity of truth. Jesus is love and serves as the ultimate standard for what is right and just. This is love.

Jesus warns against seeking recognition and honor from others. He cautions us to check our intentions and remove any self-serving motives. Jesus reminds us that he the very nature of God and chose to serve us rather than be served. He demonstrated humility, selflessness, and a willingness to place the needs of others above his own, providing us with a powerful model of love in action. This is love.

Jesus urges us to value others above ourselves and to look to the interests of others, before we look to our own needs. This is love.

All of the Law and Prophets is summed up in one word: Love.  Love for the Father, love for our neighbor. Through our actions and care for others, we show the love of Jesus to others. If we lack love, we lack Jesus, the source of love.

The solution?

Get more of Jesus’ Spirit in us. When we have more of his Spirit, we will love others with the love he has for us. May we not “try” to love more, but rather love more from the source of love: Jesus.

When the Holy Spirit comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment, for love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. John 16:8

Truly I tell you, beware of those who go around in fancy clothes and want to be recognized in public — those who seek front seats and places of honor. For show, they read long passages and pray at great length. They have their reward. Matthew 23:6

A servant is not greater than his master. Being in very nature God, I did not consider equality with my Father something to be used for my advantage. Instead I came to serve, not to be served. John 13:16

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. I have given you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Philippians 2:3-4

Care for your neighbor in the same way you care for yourself. This is the will of my Father. Mark 12:31
