Avoid False Teachers

Avoid False Teachers

False Prophets, Teachers, and Preachers

Avoid those who appear religious and have the appearance of godliness, but deny God’s power. They profess to know my Father, but by their works, words, and actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for the kingdom of God.

Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as holy and righteous but inwardly seek to destroy your soul. If anyone comes to you and does not bring my teaching and the words of my Father, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting. Whoever greets such persons takes part in their wicked works.

Watch out for those who teach what is contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught and avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead you into more and more ungodliness. Such speakers do not serve me or have in mind the will of my Father. Rather, they seek to satisfy their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the hearts of the naive.

Above all, stay in my Father’s word so that you are not carried away by the human cunning and craftiness of the deceitful schemes of false teachers and preachers. This will equip you to discern sound doctrine from false teaching.— Jesus
