Q: Many say that the “health and wealth” gospel is a false gospel: that Christians are not promised healing, good health, or prosperity. How can I be sure God really wants me blessed and to prosper?
A: Paul writes in Galatians 3:7-9 that those who believe in Jesus and have God’s faith are blessed with all the promises of Abraham.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham (Galatians 3:7).
Those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham (Galatians 3:9).
Through Christ we are blessed with the promises of Abraham because the Lord — probably in the form of Jesus (for no one can see God and live) — appeared to Abram and said, “To your ‘seed‘ (one) I will give this land.” Not “seeds” (all people) but “seed.” Christ is the “seed” of Abraham.
God blessed Abraham with divine favor and protection, numerous children and grandchildren, a long life of 175 years, abundant prosperity, success in battles, favorable relationships, a covenant relationship with Him, guidance and direction, miracles, and the promise that he would be the founder of nations, a leader, and a blessing to all.
Paul says, If you are Christ’s, you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:29). The promise of health and wealth is only for those in Jesus.
