Through It All

Through It All--Doctor with stethoscope and a hospital waiting room in the background

The world stopped

along with my husband’s heart.

Yet, love surrounded us

through it all.

With one voice mail

and a call to church,

support appeared at the hospital

before we arrived.

Waiting, praying, feeding,

holding, crying, they came

unobtrusively, lovingly

offering everything we needed.

Twenty-four hours later,

off life support,

expecting the worst,

he breathed on his own,

tracked motion and sound,

and spoke with a squeeze of his hand.

Through it all

they continued to come,

waiting, praying, feeding,

holding, crying, they came

unobtrusively, lovingly

offering everything we needed,

rejoicing in the miracle of life.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn” (Romans 12:15 NIV).

  1. This is a beautiful testimony of God’s provision in our worst storms. Thanks for sharing, Diana. I’m praying for your husband’s full recovery and I’m reminded of how
God held my family while living through very similar moments with my hubby back in 2020.

    1. Thank you, Joann. This occurred in 2009. My husband still has health issues, but his recovery has amazed multiple medical providers. Stay tuned. I plan to share more of his story later. I am praying for you and your hubby.
