The Great Father

God is the Great Father. He is the first person in the trinity, Creator of the heavens and the earth, and the Ancient of Days. Jesus, the Son, went to the cross because God the Father gave Him to mankind. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God the Father initiated our salvation. He gave Jesus to the world, and Jesus submitted to God the Father’s love-born command.

God is a good Father who loves His own. Those of us who are followers of the Way can come to know God as their personal merciful Father. We are His children, and He loves us. In fact, the Bible says that God is love. Love is the essential ingredient in the character of God.

Abba Father

Romans 8:15-16 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” The word Abba here is a word that describes the intimate relationship between a son or daughter and their father. It means Daddy.

God wants to have an intimate relationship with us. I was fortunate to have a father who, though not perfect, loved me as best as he could. You may not have the same experience. God wants to be the Father you never had. Through prayer and by soaking in scriptures that speak of the Father’s love, we can find the relationship with God the Father that He desires us to have.

The Bible describes the Lord as one God composed of three Persons: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He lives within us as born-again believers. We can grow in our understanding of Him by reading, believing, and obeying His word and by drawing near to Him in prayer.

You Can Know the Father Intimately

The God who created the worlds split the Red Sea and performs myriads of miracles wants us to know Him intimately. God the Father wants to father us. His love is a healing balm to our souls. God the Father sent Jesus to die for us so that we could experience forgiveness. He tore the veil that separated us from the presence of God. Now we can draw near to Him. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we can embark on the great adventure of knowing God.

The story of creation began in a garden called Paradise. In that place, Adam and Eve walked and talked with God. Like an untouched beach, they lived in innocence until they both succumbed to Satan’s temptation. This is what Bible calls the fall, where humanity fell from grace. But God had a plan in mind to restore what Adam had lost. This is why Christ came on the scene in God’s perfect time and went to the cross. Those who have accepted God’s gift of salvation can grow in their relationship with God. We can find freedom, joy, and healing through a relationship with Father God.

Jesus said if you have seen me, you have seen the Father (John 14:10). God the Father’s character is revealed in Jesus. God the Father desires to show compassion on the lowly, the sick, and those who need comfort. He desires to meet your need for hope and significance. He is a Father to the fatherless, and He loves us very much. Bow your knees before the Great Father God, and receive His unconditional love.
