The final splay of our tulip,
table top Ferris wheel
petaling purple wide
as a lion mane.
Flowering jumble
in a water jar, the bulb
bringing life and the stem
snipped for a day’s bouquet.
The kitchen wild for it,
the meal graced,
the wet grey spring
proposes at the window.
Husband and wife,
working the odd hours,
chance a glance at the bloom
and remember Who gives.
