There is a pattern in scripture many people miss. Not because it’s hidden. Not because it’s complicated. But because we’ve been trained to focus on the miracle instead of what comes before it. We celebrate the outcome. We study the breakthrough. We ask God to repeat the result. All while overlooking the one thing that first released heaven’s power.
Jesus knew something we keep forgetting. And once you see it, everything about how you approach kingdom power changes.
The Kingdom Is Near
Whenever Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is near,” He wasn’t making a theological statement. He was announcing that God’s power to work in miracles, signs, and wonders was available. Right there. Right then. The kingdom wasn’t coming. It had arrived.
But here’s what we need to see. Jesus never moved without the Father. He never acted from His own initiative. He said it plainly: “The Son can do nothing by Himself. He can do only what He sees His Father doing” (John 5:19).
That’s not the Son of God simply speaking in humility. That’s operational structure. Jesus lived from a place of constant communion with the Father. He sought the Father’s presence first. He waited for the Father’s word. And when He had it, He moved with absolute confidence.
This pattern reveals everything. Kingdom power flows from His presence, not from our effort.
Confidence That Marks His Presence
There is a marker that tells you when God’s presence is truly with you. It’s not a feeling you manufacture. It’s not false-confidence you work yourself into. It’s a deep, unshakable certainty that rises from within. A joy. A peace. Sometimes even a giddiness that borders on reckless because you know beyond doubt that what God has spoken will come to pass.
Paul describes it this way: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).
That word “abound” means overflow. Excess. More than enough. When the Spirit fills you, joy and peace don’t trickle in. They flood. And with them comes a confidence that doesn’t waver when circumstances stay unchanged.
This is how you know His presence is with you. Not by the absence of obstacles. Not by immediate results. But by the internal reality that precedes breakthrough. You’re so certain of what God has said that you become extravagant. You give generously, spend lavishly on the call God gave. You speak boldly. You release blessings without hesitation because you’re not operating from scarcity. You’re operating from the overflow of His presence.
Scripture shows this again and again. When God’s presence fills someone, they don’t become cautious. They become courageous. They don’t hoard. They pour out. Because confidence in God’s presence produces freedom in action.
Ask and You Will Receive
This filling of the Holy Spirit is not reserved for a select few. It’s for all who ask. Jesus made it clear: “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him” (Luke 11:13).
Ask. That’s the requirement. Ask to be filled. Ask for His presence. Ask for His guidance. And God freely gives.
When the Holy Spirit fills and overflows out of you, everything shifts. The confidence of Christ rises up within. The joy of Jesus floods your heart. Peace settles so deep that external chaos can’t disturb it. And it’s in those moments, filled with His Spirit, that you know you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).
Through Christ. His presence. With us.
Moses Understood This
Moses knew the secret. After the golden calf incident, after God threatened to send an angel instead of going Himself, Moses refused to move forward. He said, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here” (Exodus 33:15).
Moses wasn’t being dramatic. He was being wise. He understood that success without God’s presence was shallow living. Provision without the Provider. Success without the One who saved them. So he insisted. And God responded: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
Rest. Not striving. Not anxiety. Not white-knuckling your way through. Rest. Because when God’s presence goes with you, the outcome is secure before you take the first step. And you walk in rest, not stress.
This is what we must recover. The discipline of seeking God’s presence before we seek results. The wisdom of getting His word on a situation before we act on our assumptions. The courage to wait until we hear from Him, and then the boldness to move when He speaks.
Before Circumstances Change
Here’s what separates those who walk in kingdom power from those who wait for it. Those who walk in power act on God’s word before circumstances confirm it. They don’t wait for the situation to improve. They don’t demand proof before obedience. They hear from God, and they move.
Not recklessly. Not presumptuously. But confidently. Because God spoke. And when God speaks, His word carries the power to accomplish what it declares.
This is why seeking His presence first is not optional. It’s foundational. Because if you move without His presence, you’re moving in your own strength. And your own strength is never enough for kingdom assignments. But if He goes before you, if His presence accompanies you, then no obstacle can stand.
Stay Close to the Movement of His Spirit
Jesus said something striking about God’s presence and His Spirit: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8).
God’s presence is not static. His Spirit moves. Like wind that cannot be contained or predicted, the Holy Spirit is always active, always advancing, always on assignment. Which means we cannot seek Him once and assume we’re set. We must stay close. We must remain attentive. We must follow His movement.
This is how Moses lived. This is how Jesus operated. And this is how we bring the kingdom of God into any situation.
Not by finding the right formula. Not by repeating past successes. But by seeking His presence fresh every day. By asking to be filled again and again with His Holy Spirit. By listening for His voice and watching for His movement. And when that deep confidence rises, when joy floods your soul, when peace settles despite what you see, that’s your signal. His presence is with you. And now you move.
Because the pattern hasn’t changed. Seek His presence first. Wait for His word. And when He says go, step forward with extravagant confidence. The kingdom of heaven is not just near. When His presence fills you and moves with you, the kingdom is here.
