My Life

I lived my life one day at a time with no thought for the eternal

I searched for pleasures and pursued empty ways

Fear drove me to the ground

Ran me ‘round the block

I grasped at a form of godliness without power

Without saving grace

This was my life

But you knocked on the door of my heart,

Again and again

My ears heard silence

My heart felt guilt

This was my life

Then a man spoke of your love

Friendship with God was in my reach

My heart flooded with light

The dark clouds parted

I embraced Jesus, but He hugged me first

Crooked ways became straight

Perfect love drove fear away

This is my life now – full of love, joy and peace

Fellowship with the King of Kings
