My Good Father

He raised us like a shepherd tending to his flock,

Quiet strength and kindness his banner.

He instilled within us the value of honorable work

And covered us with favor like a wool blanket.

Day after day he strove to provide,

Sweat trickled down his brow,

Saving for the future so his sons would flourish.

Soundness of mind his sure companion,

But his friend abandoned him in the twilight,

A slow progression

In the middle of the cloudiness, he found Messiah-King.

The last days tried our souls,

When dying lingered,

Then he breathed his last.

My good father found his home in the eternal arms of God,

The Greatest Father.

Now his memory reminds me

I will meet him once again

Where happiness flows like a never-ending river.

Will you join us there?
