His Love Never Quits

His love never quits.

Thank you, God, for enabling me—as a little girl—to see you in the created world. Before I knew the words, my heart sang, “Open my eyes so I can see what you show me of your miracle-wonders” (from Psalm 119).

His love never quits.

Thank you for all those who wrong me and for whom I’ve wronged, as our shortcomings often lead to opportunities to forgive, revealing more of your endless mercy and grace.

His love never quits.

Thank you for my freedom. Help me never take for granted the liberties I enjoy which have come at a great cost.

His love never quits.

Thank you for friendships—those you’ve placed in my life who know my heart and share in my story.

His love never quits.

Thank you for restoring my soul when I return to you with contrition, proclaiming with the psalmist, “God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life… Unbutton my lips, dear God; I’ll let loose with your praise” (from Psalm 51).

His love never quits.

Thank you for a caring mother who taught me the Twenty-Third Psalm when I was a child and battled fear. And thank you for being my Good Shepherd—always lovingly guiding me with your tender rod, your gentle staff.

His love never quits.

Thank you for my earthly father—one who has always been an arrow, pointing me to you. He’s “… a tree replanted… bearing fresh fruit every month” (from Psalm 1).

His love never quits.

Thank you for my husband—my resolute protector—who knows me best and loves me anyway, despite all my shortcomings.

His love never quits.

Thank you for the children and grandchildren I’m blessed to nurture—each precious gifts from your hand, delivered by others into my waiting arms.

His love never quits.

Thank you for the suffering endured through both waiting and loss. Such has called me to press in to you more purposefully—even through pain—proclaiming with David, “You are good, and the source of good; train me in your goodness… My troubles turned out for all the best—they forced me to lean from your textbook… Now comfort me so I can live, really live; your revelation is the tune I dance to…” (from Psalm 119).

His love never quits.

Thank you for collecting each of my tears in a bottle, because each one matters to your heart. Indeed, every one is precious (Psalm 56:8).

His love never quits.

Thank you for giving me your own son, my savior. All my life, I will praise Jesus for his sacrifice, having paid a debt I could never pay for sin he didn’t commit. Because of him, I live abundantly—yes, with freedom! With Jesus, there’s joy in my journey, no matter what I face.

His love never quits.

Thank you, thank you for it all. “You did it: you changed my wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I’m about to burst with song. I can’t keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can’t thank you enough” (from Psalm 30).

Your love never quits.

Kind Father, thank you for your love, which never quits. May I love like you–always, to all people, in all circumstances. Amen.

Question: What do you have to thank God for? Remember: No matter what you’re facing—His love never quits! And gratitude? It’s our ladder out of despair.
