A Place to Rest

Are rest and relaxation the same thing? Recently, we attended a large, family gathering. People could leave their cares and concerns at the door. Everything had been planned: food, activities, and space to reconnect. It was simply family time, a time to rest and to relax.

I long to create that welcoming, relaxing kind of home for those who visit here. It’s not about fancy anything. It’s all about a place to rest from the busyness of the world.

Jesus called His followers to come and rest.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

The idea of a lovely family gathering calls to the heart, doesn’t it? And the call of our Savior calls deeper to the inmost part of our being.

The fabulous thing? God calls us away during our most stressful times of life. Sometimes, He calls us away to a physical place of rest, but He also offers us rest in the journey itself.

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  Exodus 33:14

Many blessings on you as you enjoy fellowship with God and family and seek a resting place from the world.
